Our elementary boys arrive at the box 20 or 25 minutes before their workout begins. It is mandatory that they bring something to do - that includes finishing up homework for the next day at school. Most of them complete their homework in a matter of minutes...isn't that cool? Then, they have the rest of the evening ahead without having to worry about it! Priceless!

Homework time!

Packing school lunches is well underway! Our kids pack their lunches each evening so it behooves us to have some healthy choices, including lots of protein, on hand for them. Make a big batch of meatballs on Sunday so that they can easily stash some in their lunchbox throughout the week ahead. They are super easy to make and you have lots of choices for seasonings! You can pack a container of mustard to add a little interest to them...

Easy and protein-packed...

Here is a simple and yummy way to get some green in your childrens' diets...kale chips! Wash and thoroughly dry a bunch of kale - tear into bite size pieces. Toss with some EVOO and sprinkle with salt and your favorite seasoning or some balsamic vihegar - we also use chili powder. Lay out pieces on a baking sheet and bake in a 350 degree oven until crispy - check often so that they don't burn!

We introduced a new class last Friday - Elements of Weightlifting - barbell training for kids. Kids ages 8 and up can now learn many lifts - drilling technique and form. While this class will be fun, it is a bit more serious. Try a class and see if it is for your child! We meet each Friday from 4pm until 5pm...

Don't stress at breakfast time! Now that school has begun for most kids, preparation is key to feeding your children properly. Protein and carbs should play important role in your child's breakfast. Make an egg casserole the night before and cut up individual pieces to serve up quickly in the morning. Just mix up eggs, some breakfast meat, a little coconut milk and some sauteed veggies/spices. Bake up until the mixture becomes firm...easy and saves you some time in a.m.!

Easy and delicious...

One afternoon this summer, we were camping and wanted a breakfast kind of lunch...we had some locally-made brats and a great recipe for coconut flour pancakes from Nourishing Days...the meal was easy to prepare and delicious. Add different kinds of fruit to the batter for variety!
