Eggs & Cholesterol
***Monday, 5 July there will only be a 9am class.***
I was having a conversation over some liquid grains over the weekend with one of our clients, and he mentioned that his cholesterol had gone up - a lot - since he started eating a Paleo Diet. Specifically, he mentioned increasing the number of eggs he was eating.
While I am certainly not an expert on cholesterol, all the reading I have done on the subject recently disputed the connection between eggs and increased cholesterol. These two article from Mark's Daily Apple cover both eggs & cholesterol. And a simple google search had all kinds of info, including this from Harvard.
So if eggs aren't the culprit - or if even the new higher level is really all that bad - what caused the spike? After a few more liquid grain beverages into the evening, the deserts at the party came out - some watermelon, ice cream for the kids - and a box of Kroger cookies. Guess who had a few Kroger cookies?!
So, my take is eat the eggs - preferably with sausage or bacon - really get rid of the "other junk"...and KEEP YOUR GRAINS LIQUID!!
Thoughts? Lay ot on me!
Kelly getting vertical,Nathan getting down....Yay Burpees! But who's on the couch?

little Cliff’s Notes for ya:
“It all boils down to inflammation. Inflammation is the number one factor in heart disease. This is an accepted fact now, but it still gets little attention and no real prevention or treatment.
Inflammation. What is it caused by? Not fat, but carbohydrates. Yes, sugars and processed carbs are highest on the list of perpetrators here, but grains and starches as a whole contribute to the problem. LDL rises directly not with the amount of saturated fat you eat but with rising levels of inflammation caused by carbs and trans fats.”

I got my blood work back from my Dive physical and my cholesterol was a combined 136; broken up, HDL: 56 LDL: 74. I typically eat anywhere between 5-10 eggs a day (usually a 2 whole eggs, 3 egg whites split).
Since I don’t know what my cholesterol was before I started eating this way, I can’t prove or disprove the benefits or effects of eggs on cholesterol but just wanted to throw in some stats.
See you guys soon!

Mark’s Daily Apple’s Aromatic Whole Grilled Chicken - search his archives from June ‘10…slow cook that bird on the grill and you won’t be disappointed…Bryce made it and we have it at least once a week for dinner…super easy other than the time commitment…put that cooler next to the grill and chill…
Tonight - beef cooked in lard with a little extra punch of added bacon…yum…
Done with kids summer camps tomorrow - super fun but zonkered - back in the gym ASAP! Missed everyone…Enjoy your 4th!

My vote is for Nate WOD, seems fun and challenging (max rounds in 20 min of 2 muscle ups, 4 handstand push ups, and 8 KB swings)
