CrossFit - Mainstream?

With the CrossFit Games concluding over the weekend, it seems the "sport" is gaining in popularity.  There were more entrants at each of the sectional qualifying events this year then there were at the inaugural Games in 2007.  The kind of growth starts to draw attention.   Read this article from Forbes.com about the commercial appeal of CrossFit.  Interesting...

  • Just have to share-I resisted fresh Panera bagels that were delivered here for breakfast this morning.  It was hard… I saw that cinnamon crunch bagel calling my name…
    Day 3 of grain free, and that was my first real temptation.  Only 10000 left to go, but it’s a good start!

  • Great job Cassidy!  It’s tough when stuff like that is thrown in your face, especially at first, but get through a few weeks and it gets much easier

  • Yeah, I heard CrossFit mentioned on a somewhat mainstream radio show yesterday. Kind of shocked me. Tony Gonzalez, TE for the Falcons was asked if at this point in his career is he still trying to improve or just stay relevant. Kind of a lob ball lame question but responded by saying “need to constantly improve and uses CrossFit to help do it.” Said “need to stay accustomed to emptying the water glass in order to keep filling it back up”. He also has an all-grass fed whey protein shake mix.

    My brah Dave from Washington State did the workout.  4 rounds, 15#: 13:18.  Max sit ups 42.

    Some Achilles issues out of the gate so I split the rower with Amy - rowed rounds 3 & 5.
    I went up 5# on (this) my 4th Nancy - I started at a 15# bar a little more than a year ago then 25# then 35# so there’s that…really shooting for 50# next time…OHS is wicked tough…)

    I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again I completely suck at bodyweight/running WODs.  Not to mention my right knee was killing me today after the air squats yesterday, which I didn’t think would be anything bad.
