CrossFit is not a franchise. CrossFit is an affiliate agreement. Take a two day course. Pay $3000 per year to use the name. Run your gym however you want. Teach whatever you want. How CrossFit Blacksburg School of Fitness differs is that we have been around for 8 years and have learned the best practices.

We won't throw you straight into classes; we will get you prepared for life. All of our coaches have been through an extensive training program and most of them have been with us for over 5 years!

At CrossFit Blacksburg School of Fitness you will have a coach and community for life. You’ll be kept in good hands. Each of our coaches goes through an extensive coaching development process—an apprentice program of sorts—making our coaches some of the most knowledgeable and well-rounded in the fitness industry. Their knowledge of human movement, personal interaction, and life coaching skills are second-to-none.

CrossFit Blacksburg School of Fitness coaches are true fitness professionals...meaning that they have found a way to make a professional living in the industry. This also means you won’t be going through personal trainer after personal trainer. One of the keys to gaining general physical preparedness stems from your ability to perform functional movements.

Functional movements replicate movements you see in life: Getting off the toilet is just a squat. Putting something away in the top cupboard is an overhead press. Functional movements tend to be core to extremity, multi-joint movements, like squats and presses, as opposed to isolation movements that target one specific muscle group.

We believe training functional movements will help you to improve your 10 General Physical Skills—the skills we believe are necessary both for being generally physical prepared and for all-around elite fitness. The 10 General Physical Skills are: cardiovascular respiratory endurance, stamina, speed, strength, power, flexibility, coordination, balance, agility and accuracy.
